Esther Riese
After finishing her B.A. in European Media Science in Potsdam and Modena, Esther Riese is currently studying the master program Film Heritage at Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. There she addresses the question of the presentability of cultural heritage in the cinema, in museums and last but not least in digital space.
She works as a curator for film historical exhibitions and in different positions for film heritage festivals like moving history and Cinema Ritrovato and film festivals like the Berlinale. During internships in collections and film archives she could focus on working with various archival materials.
After being student research assistant to the Filmmuseum Potsdam and to a project researching the archaeology of cinematic icons, she started to support the project as a student research assistant in September 2020. Her field of work involves indexing, processing and editing of archival materials for web-based usage regarding the work and life of Eisenstein, the construction of databases as well as film historical and bibliographical research.
